Bonfire test - test 6 (c)
De-classification of explosives - bonfire test (test 6c)
We offer a complete explosives de-classification tests service to obtain a better classification of the packaged product and determine whether an explosive material can be reclassified as less dangerous under certain transport conditions. In some cases, it is also possible to obtain a UN number and a class other than explosive, such as, UN3268 Class 9. Our team of experts is always ready to support you in every step of the process by studying in every detail the type of packaging the most suitable to contain the explosion.
Our service in details:
1 Study of the product and type of packaging
We guarantee and certify the good quality and compliance with the construction chapters of the Limited Quantities packaging we produce. We carry out an overall assessment taking into consideration various aspects including internal packaging, weight, type of transport and other elements, which enable us to produce a Limited Quantities packaging that complies with the construction characteristics of 6.1.4 ADR/RID/ADN/IMDG and 6.2 IATA.
2 Complete tests for UN certification of the packaging
Once the protective system has been defined, we proceed to the UN certification of the packaging, taking care of all the necessary tests in-house to provide you with a valid UN certification for all regulations. Bonfire test is not possible without having certification of the UN certified packaging.
3 Bonfire test and de-classification document
Based on the volume of packaging we define the amount of packaging to be tested. The tests are performed in a safe location and the blast power and projection are measured as defined by the Manual of Tests and Criteria. Based on the result, the product is de-classified.
4 Official de-classification document
Several parameters are observed during the test, including the strength of the container, dispersion of the contents, possible explosion, and emission of fragments or flame jets. These data help determine the actual risk associated with transporting the explosive material. If the tests are successful, we issue the declassification document for the packaged product.
5 Some products we can declassify along with the packaging:
- airbags;
- seat belt pretensioners;
- airbag inflators;
- vehicle suspensions;
- ...

From design to implementation, we take care of the entire process including the production and supply of the metal cage, any components that make up the packaging, and the UN certified outer packaging.
